Palace on Wheel

The itinerary of Palace on Wheels of an unforgettable lifetime journey, covering some of the most fascinating tourist destinations of India . The train takes you to colorful cities, magnificent forts and palaces, wildlife sanctuaries of Rajasthan and last but not least to the Taj Mahal at Agra . The train starts its fabulous journey from Delhi cantonment Railway station Delhi on every Wednesday (September-April).

Day 1 Depart from home
We take a connecting flight to Delhi . (Meals Aloft)

Day 2 Delhi
Arrival at Delhi , International airport Welcome by Representative of Tiger Expeditions and transfers to Hotel - Saptagiri, New Delhi . (B, L, D)

Day 3 Wednesday - Delhi - Jaipur
On arrival at Delhi Cantonment Railway Station, the guests are accorded a warm and traditional welcome and you start the momentous journey on the Palace on Wheels. The train departs at 17.45 hrs for Jaipur. Enjoy a delicious dinner on board at 20.00 hrs. Overnight in train. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Thursday - Jaipur - Jaiselmer
Arrival: 02.00 hrs. Departure 1930 hrs
On your arrival at Jaipur capital of the state of Rajasthan. It is known as the Pink City because of the reddish color applied to the old city walls and palace as a symbol of welcome. After lunch at the famous Rambagh Palace Hotel, visit Jantar Mantar (the largest observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh) and the City Palace . Return back to the Palace on Wheels around 18.30hrs and we start for Jaisalmer. Enjoy dinner onboard the train.

Day 5 Friday - Jaiselmer - Jodhpur
Arrival: 08.15 hrs. Departure 23.00 hrs
Famous as 'the Golden City of India ', Jaisalmer is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan. The city is famous for its golden fort and beautiful havelis (mansions). Visit the famous Patwon ki haveli, Nathmalji ki haveli and Salim Singh ki haveli. Thereafter, shop at Rajasthali- the only emporium of Rajasthan Govt. offering fine pattu shawls, mirror work & embroidered articles, wooden boxes, trinkets, silver jewelry and curios.

After lunch onboard, enjoy an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam. Dinner on the sand dunes under the moonlit sky is another highlight of your visit. Thereafter, enjoy a colorful cultural program at a hotel in Jaisalmer. Later, return back to the Palace on Wheels to start for Jodhpur .

Day 6 Saturday - Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur
Arrival: 07.00 hrs. Departure 15.30 hrs
In the morning, the Palace on Wheels arrives in Jodhpur- the second largest cities of Rajasthan fortified by a high stonewall with seven gates and several fortresses. Visit the famous Mehrangarh Fort, Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. Then, enjoy your lunch at the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace . Return to the Palace on Wheels, and we start for Sawai Madhopur.

Day 7 Sunday - Sawai Madhopur - Chittorgarh
Arrival: 04.00 hrs. Departure: 10.30 Hrs
Sawai Madhopur is famous for its proximity to the Ranthambore National Park- one of the most famous National Parks and Tiger Reserves of India. Enjoy a jeep safari to explore the flora and fauna of the Park. Enjoy tracking tigers, chital, deer, monkeys and a wide variety of exotic and colorful birds. Also visit the 10th century Ranthambore Fort. Thereafter you return to the Palace on Wheels and we start for Chittorgarh.

Day 8 Sunday - Chittorgarh - Udaipur
Arrival: 16.00 Hrs . Departure: 20.00 hrs. From Chittorgarh
Chittorgarh -the legendary city of Rajasthan- is famous as the city of bravery and romance. The 7th century Chittorgarh Fort, has witnessed many wars fought over to protect the dignity and respect of the beautiful land. Other attractions worth visiting in the Fort include Vijay Stambh ( Tower of Victory ) and the Kirti Stambh ( Tower of Fame ). Overnight stay onboard the train.

Day 9 Monday - Udaipur - Bharatpur
In the morning, a luxury coach takes you to Udaipur- famous as the city of lakes. Enjoy a memorable tour of the palaces, forts and temples at Udaipur . Visit the two most beautiful landmarks of Udaipur - the Jag Niwas ( Lake Palace ) and the Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichola . Enjoy lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel. The luxury coach then takes you back to the Palace on Wheels at Chittorgarh. Board the train at Chittorgarh and we start for Bharatpur.

Day 10 Tuesday - Bharatpur National Park - Agra
Arrival: 06.30 hrs. Departure: 11.45 hrs
The Palace on Wheels arrives at Bharatpur early in the morning. After breakfast, visit the world famous Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park . Enjoy spotting numerous colorful varieties of birds including the Siberian Cranes- the migratory birds coming to the Park from Siberia 5,000 Km away during winters.

Day 11 Tuesday - Agra - Delhi
Arrival: 14.30 hrs. Departure: 23.00 hrs.
On way to Agra , Visit Fatehpur Sikri - the 16th century historical town, built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. See the Buland Darwaza- the largest gateway in the world, the Jama mosque and the tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti, a famous Sufi saint of India .

On arrival at Agra , enjoy lunch at a hotel. Thereafter, visit the magnificent Red Fort also known as the Agra Fort. After visiting the Fort, Visit the world famous Taj Mahal - the most amazing and beautiful historical monument in the world. . Enjoy dinner on board the train and start for Delhi .

Day 12 Wednesday - Delhi
Arrival 06.00 hrs
The Palace on Wheels arrives at Delhi Cantt Railway station early in the morning. Enjoy your breakfast on board the train and leave the train with sweet memories of the past week. And here your unforgettable journey comes to its conclusion and transfer to hotel Saptagiri New Delhi.

We'll explore the walled city of Old Delhi , visiting Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India 's most elegant mosque - and the market. Lunch at original Mughal kitchen called Karim's. Following lunch we drive past the unique iron pillars of Qutub Minar, a UNESCO heritage site monument and Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO heritage site monument. A special farewell Dinner at our hotel before departs to international airport to catch your flight to back home. (B, L, D)

Day 13 Delhi - Back home
Meet our connecting international flight. (Meals Aloft)
