On the Himalaya foothills along the Indo- Nepal Border  Dudhwa National parks lies in district Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh  and occupies an  area of 490 Sq. Km. Dudhwa became a National Park in 1977 and adopted Project Tiger in 1988. It has a diverse habitat with Grasslands, dense Sal forests to swampy marshes, and its aquatic ecosystem encourages a great variety of flora and fauna species to flourish.

Wildlife found  
Mammals : At least 37 species of mammals which include Tigers, Leopards, along with the lesser ones like the Fishing cat, Jungle cat and the Leopard cat. Hispid Hares, swamp deer (barasingha), Rhinos, Chital, hog deer, barking deer, sambar deer, wild boar, and jackal. It was here in 1984 that a major rhinoceros rehabilitation project was started since these forests had been the habitat of the rhinoceros 150 years ago.

Birds Life: 400 species of birds including painted storks, sarus cranes, owls, barbets, woodpeckers, minivets and many more, including some rare species like the Bengal florican. Much of the park's avian fauna is aquatic in nature, and is found around Dudhwa's lakes- especially Banke Tal.

Mode of Safari  : You can hire Jeeps and mini buses to move around inside the Dudhwa National Park. Besides the Jeeps and mini buses you can also enjoy Elephant rides through the Park. Usually the mahouts /Elephant drivers double up as guides
