Located in the Vindhyan tracts of Madhya Pradesh this 540km National Park holds some of the most dramatic forest patches and ruggedly breathtaking scenery of peninsular India . The Ken river coursing through Panna National Park embellishes the countryside with its aquamarine waters and along with a few perennial springs is an important source of drinking water for the animalsPanna National Park is situated in the Central Indian state called Madhya Pradesh. This park is located at a distance of 57 kms from Prominent Tourist Place Khajuraho which is the nearest Air Port. Distances of some important places in India from the Panna National Park are Bhopal 727 km, Delhi 889 km, Chennai 1761, and Calcutta 1040 km.

Flora : Dhawda, Tendu, Saja, Achar, Seja, Salai, Kullu, Aonla, Mahua, Bel etc.

Mammals: Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris), leopard (Panthera pardus), wild dog (Cuon alpinus), wolf (Canis lupus), hyaena (Hyaena hyaena) and caracal (Felus caracal) and smaller cats. The Sloth bear has his most favorite home in the rock escarpments and undisturbed valley. The wooded areas are dotted with sambar, the largest Indian deer, chital and chowsingha. One can easily see nilgai and chinkara in most open areas in the grasslands, especially on the periphery.

Bird Life: About 200 bird species are found here, including a host of migratory birds. One can see white necked stork, bar-headed goose, honey Buzzard, King vulture, Blossom headed Parakeet, Paradise flycatcher, Slaty headed Scimitar babbler to name a few.

Reptiles: Varieties of snakes, including the python and other reptiles are found here. Long snouted Crocodile and Marsh Crocodile are also found in the Ken River .

Other Attractions : Panna is famous for its diamond mining industry and this makes it an interesting place to visit. Pandav Falls is also a major attraction with its lake fed by a waterfall. Another attraction in this region is the Rajgarh Palace , a magnificent piece of architecture overlooking the valley.

Safari: There are no jeeps provided by the authorities, so you will have to rent your own jeep for a safari into the park. An hour long boat ride offered by the park authorities is a good option to catch a glimpse of water predators and other animals around the lake. Elephant safari is one of your best bets to spot a striped beast up close.
